DocUnion NGO was founded in 2011 by a group of Slovak lecturers and volunteerism enthusiasts led by Dr. Boba M. Baluchova. It focuses on projects of media and information literacy (MIL), international volunteering for sustainable development, as well as global citizenship education (GCE) – to face society issues, global challenges and media stereotypes in Slovakia and Aotearoa. Apart from MIL and GCE workshops for adult learners and pre-departure trainings for future international development volunteers, the DocUnion’s team has been responsible for the content of: the responsible global journalism blogging platform ‚Media about Development‘, the Slovak aid volunteering alumni association and network SAVAN, as well as the e-Learning course ‚Towards SDGs fulfilment: From local action to global reach‘.
